"All our great Presidents were leaders of thought at times when certain historic ideas in the life of the nation had to be clarified." -Franklin D. Roosevelt, September 11, 1932

Quote of the Day

"Wow! Brazil is big."

-President George W. Bush on November 6, 2005, when shown a map of the country.

This is what you get when you elect a C-student to the highest office in the land.

California's Election

The special election Gov. Ah-nuld asked for (and forced local governments to pay for) takes place today. I plan to vote NO on all of the initiatives, if only to deny the Governor his requests.

Some I would vote against anyway (like the parental notification law), others I might consider supporting had they been worded differently.

Polls show most, if not all, of the initiatives losing tonight. We'll see what happens.

Quote of the Day

"There's an enemy that lurks and plots and plans and wants to hurt America again. So you bet we will aggressively pursue them but we will do so under the law. We do not torture." (My italics.)

-President Bush, today in Panama City.

No. Under this president we just tell prisoners of war that they better tell us the truth or they'll go to bed without dinner.

Please.

How does this fuckhead get away with such lies?

You can tell the White House is on the ropes when...

...yet ANOTHER "key al-Quida figure" is arrested.

Exactly how many "key figures" does this group have? Seems to be awfully top-heavy.

Brown out at CNN

Aaron Brown, the superb anchor of CNN's Newsnight, has been let go by the once-#1 news network. Anderson Cooper will take his place.

In addition to being a top-notch anchor, Brown was an excellent writer. With the anchor desks at ABC and CBS currently vacant, the head honchos at those news divisions would do well to make overtures to Aaron. The network newscasts are in dire need of someone of his stature.
